Radico Organic Amla Fruit Powder is milled from certified organic Phyllanthus emblica (syn. Emblica officinalis) fruit and contains nothing else — no fillers, no synthetic preservatives, no fragrance.

Amla appears in 23 of Radico's 24 shades, which makes it the most-used herb in the range. Unlike the other care powders, it does affect a colour result: amla is mildly acidic and cools henna's warmth, taking the orange edge off a result and deepening the tone. That makes it useful if your henna has come out brighter than you wanted.

How to use

1. Weigh 15-20 g for short hair, around 30 g at shoulder length, or 50-60 g for long or thick hair.
2. Add warm water gradually at three to four times the powder's weight in millilitres and stir until smooth.
3. Let the paste stand five minutes, then check the consistency.
4. Apply from roots through to the ends, or blend the dry powder into a Radico shade before adding water to cool the tone.
5. Cover, leave 30-45 minutes, and rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Questions

Will amla change my colour?
It can. Amla is the one care herb in the Radico range that alters a colour result through its own chemistry — it cools warmth rather than adding pigment of its own. On uncoloured hair the effect is minimal.

My henna came out too orange. Will this help?
That is the usual reason people reach for it. Amla takes the edge off henna's warmth. Strand test first so you know how far it shifts on your hair.

Can I mix it into my colour?
Yes — it is already in most Radico shades. Adding more cools the result further.

How often can I use it?
Once or twice a week as a mask. If you colour with henna and like the warmth, use it sparingly.
