The Prima Sperm Test is a qualitative self-test that estimates sperm concentration in a semen sample, useful for men monitoring fertility or planning a pregnancy. It uses a glass-fibre membrane that filters and stains sperm cells — the darker the resulting colour, the higher the concentration.

How to Use

1. Collect the semen sample directly into the cup provided, shake gently and leave to stand for 15 minutes.
2. Deposit one drop of the sample into test well A using the pipette.
3. Add 3 drops of staining solution to well A and let sit for 1–2 minutes.
4. Add 2 drops of washing solution to well A, let sit for 1–2 minutes, then compare the colour of well A to reference well B.

Accuracy

Specificity 99.5%, Sensitivity 98.1%, Accuracy 99.1%. A darker well A than reference well B indicates a concentration above 15 million/mL.
